Free Swim Lessons for 2nd Graders!

Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation is teaming up with The Parks, Waterways & Recreation Commission and CRPF to ask for your support of the Free Swim Lesson Program (FSLP). FSLP is a collaboration with the Cedar Rapids Community School District, launched during the 2022–2023 school year. The program began with 54 second graders and in just three years, nearly 600 second-grade students have participated—gaining access to essential swim and water safety instruction. FSLP was created to remove common barriers to learning to swim—like lack of transportation, financial limitations, fear of water, or not owning a swimsuit. The program addresses each of these concerns and provides a safe, welcoming environment where kids can build critical life skills.
Every gift makes a difference – whether it covers one lesson, one student, or a full class. Your support helps provide students with life-saving skills, appropriate swimwear, and the confidence to safely enjoy the water. You can help make that possible! The cost per student is $44. Donations can be made by check, payable to Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation (memo: FSLP), mailed to: Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation, PO Box 2641, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406 or by clicking the button below. Thank You!
